”Immuno-Augmentative Therapy is, as its name suggests, a therapy which combats with the body’s immune system, augments the immune system and enables it to control and combat cancer. It is not by any means a cure for cancer. I don’t believe such a thing exists.
However, cancer patients who have been treated with IAT, Immuno-Augmentative Therapy, often respond with cessation of tumor growth and in some instances, with no tumor growth, and in many with actual reversal as well as necrosis of the cancer growth.”

“Various physicians testified to the remarkable results they had seen in some of Burton’s patients. A New York internist, for example, called one such case ‘a most incredible thing’.
The author was interviewed and quoted as follows:
I’d say that the problem is basically in the cancer establishment’s attitudes and interests rather than in Lawrence Burton himself. I think there’s a tendency in the big places to think that they are going to find the cure for cancer, and to resent an upstart, such as a man from St. Vincent’s or from the Bahamas, who tells them anything about cancer. The field itself has its own limitations built in, and people who go outside the limitations become the heretics and mavericks, such as Burton”.

“When that is all put together in transcript form, it will probably represent one of the most impressive assemblages of expert and non-expert testimony on Immuno-Augmentative Therapy that we have had, and anyone who is interested in looking beyond the scenes, or behind the scenes, all they have to do is pick up that transcript and read it.”

“As the majority of our patients have been pronounced terminal by orthodox medicine, it is not surprising that many of them do not respond to IAT. What is, indeed, promising, is that so many do.”

“Based upon my training and experience, I feel that IAT has significantly extended the life of a large number of these patients, and at the very least, improved the quality of life for others.
Given the fact that most of the patients that come to the IAT clinic have been treated with surgery, radiation and/or chemotherapy and have been given a terminal diagnosis, the important fact is that there are significant – a significant number of those people who except for IAT should be dead, and that a significant number of those appear to be in total remission”.

“We ended up taking Sidney Farber’s advice,” remembers Burton. “Sidney Farber was a renowned cancer researcher at Children’s Hospital in Boston. He said, ‘Look, you’re ten years ahead of yourself. Just keep chopping wood until people catch up with you.’ So we’ve been chopping wood.”

“First, in order to establish a little credibility, I would like to say that I am a graduate of Cornell Medical School, and that I am certified as a Board Surgeon, I am a thoracic surgeon, and I am also a fellow in the American College of Surgeons. I was their state president, and am a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians.
I was chief of surgery at three hospitals in New Jersey, and I was chief of thoracic surgery at two others.
In that capacity I have had a tremendous experience with cancer…
And I was so impressed, since it seemed such a logical approach, and also I was particularly impressed because it had no deleterious side effects in contrast to radiation therapy and chemotherapy, both of which modalities I had turned down because my own experience as a surgeon proved that these measures were, in an advanced disease, at least, weren’t all that great….
I am convinced in my own mind that this is a very valid therapy, it offers a great deal to patients who have far advanced disease, who had metastases or spread and, as far as I am concerned, I speak glowingly of the work that is done down here.

With regard to the April 2003 U.S. Government and RAND Corporation report on Immuno-Augmentative Therapy,
this review supports the following conclusions:
“The IAT cases provide sufficient indications for the recommendation that IAT warrants further study . . .
For IAT, this review suggests there is sufficient evidence to recommend that either a random controlled trial or a prospective case series could be considered.”
